Auch is a Gallo-Roman city situated in the popular area of Gascony in the Gers department in the Midi-Pyrenees region. This is one of the most peaceful and rural areas of France and is often dubbed France’s Tuscany. The region is famous for Armagnac, D’Artagnan and its bastides: 13th and 14th century medieval towns built to control the growing population and most still remain intact to this day. Its rolling hills covered with sunflowers and poppies entices quite a few foreigners here to spend long and lazy summer days but it is still a very under populated region.
