Situated in the department of Haut-Savoie in Rhone-Alpes, Morzine is an alpine ski resort with access to a very large ski area known as Portes du Soleil (800km of slopes) with Avoriaz, Les Gets, Chatel and various other resorts nearby which are hugely popular with tourists. Les Gets and Chatel are more family orientated while Avoriaz and to a much larger extent Morzine are geared for both keen skiers as well as those wishing to check out the abundant bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

Avoriaz, located at 1800 metres offers the best skiing area as it is at a higher altitude than the others and is a totally car free village with ski in ski out access to the slopes. Prices of property for sale in Avoriaz however are higher than the bigger resorts of Morzine and Les gets but of course also command higher rentals. Morzine, Avoriaz and Les Gets have strong winter rental markets and a high demand for property which pushes up prices year on year. Good transport links, proximity to Geneva airport and summer activities to boot including: golf, swimming, tennis, hiking and mountain biking to name but a few activities make this area a good investment for permanent and second home buyers.
