Gordes is a beautiful village perched on the southern edge of the “Plateau de Vaucluse” with magnificent views across the fields, forests and villages below. The beige stone buildings are built in tight against the cliffs including its 12th century castle which together creates are very unique and pretty place to be. It has been classed as one of the “Plus beaux villages de France” and subsequently gets an awful lot of tourists in the summer time however the village retains much of its charm due to the very strict building planning. The village is situated in the Vaucluse department of the Provence region and the nearest large towns are Avignon and Aix-en Provence.
