Quimper is an ancient Breton city (the oldest Breton city in fact) originally settled in Roman times and is situated in the Finistere department of Brittany. The river-side town has a relaxed and rustic atmosphere with numerous bars, cafes and restaurants and the charming old medieval quarter has cobbled streets and a magnificent cathedral. There are also a number of museums, a theatre and a yearly festival in July displaying the vibrant Breton culture called “Festival de Cornouaille”. Around Quimper are a number of sought after seaside resorts and fishing villages like Benodet and Concarneau whilst inland towns like Pont-Aven show-off the beauty of typical Breton architecture.

Quimper has a TGV train station with high speed trains from Paris but also buses, trains and taxis plus an airport at Brest only 40 mins away.
