Situated in the department of Manches in Lower Normandy, Avranches is renowned as a world heritage site. This town sits on a wooded hill with excellent views that overlook Mont-Saint-Michel and the beaches below. It is a very popular tourist attraction with a busy property market consisting of foreigners (a good number of which are British) and French locals. The climate is much milder and sunnier than the northern coastline of Normandy located in a sheltered bay bordering Brittany.
