Situated in the eastern tip of the Provence-Alpes-Cotes d’Azur region in the South east of France, the Alpes–Maritimes department contains some of France’s and indeed the world’s most famous locations: Cannes, Nice, Juan les Pins and Antibes to name but a few. Its Mediterranean coast referred to as the French Riviera or Cote d’Azur has for many years been a great getaway for foreigners and French alike where it seems that that everyone can let themselves go and enjoy its hospitality. The area used to be frequented by very wealthy British who as opposed to today actually came here during the winter to get away from the cold British climate.
Flower production, perfume distilleries, olive oil production, pottery and tiles are the main industries of the department and tourism plays a huge part in its economy with the size and number of hotels second only to Paris.
Unsurprisingly property is very expensive here especially on the coast and in or near popular seaside resorts but there is much to explore within the typical Provencal areas further inland where the lifestyle and property is more authentic and far better value.

Property prices here way above the national average for their categories but in an extremely sought after location is still a good place in which to buy especially if looking for a holiday home to rent out.
