Samoëns
Samoens is an authentic and beautiful old town which has earned itself the designation of a "ville fleurie" distinguishing it as "one the most beautiful towns in France". It is connected to the Grand Massif ski domain (which includes the well known snow sure resort of Flaine) via a chair lift that takes you to Samoens 1600 which has 265km of slopes. In addition to skiing Samoens offers non-skiing activities including dog-sledding, indoor climbing, caving and diving under ice. There are nine chapes in and around Samoens and many cultural buildings many of which date from the 17th century. It is just an hour's drive from Geneva and the centre of the town with it's beautiful square is traffic free with lots of gormet and boutique shops and restaurants and a famous botanical garden.

Property rental prices in Samoens are reasonable despite its obvious charm as it is not ski-in-ski-out and you have to walk to a chair lift and then queue for it as the slopes don't take you to Samoens itself. If you don't mind this however and put charm and budget before quick access to skiing then this is a great place to rent.
