Information on Limousin and Property Available for Sale through Leapfrog Properties
Limousin
The area is located in central France and borders the popular Dordogne valley area to its west to include Brive and Tulle. The countryside is hilly and wooded with rivers, gorges and over 1000 lakes to discover making it a fantastic area for fishing, kayaking, sailing and other water sports. Its rather unfertile soil means that the main agriculture is cattle and there is very little other industry around.
Around the region’s capital, Limoges, there are numerous chateaux and churches worth visiting and if you venture into the city itself the imposing Cathedrale St-Etienne awaits you. Here there are plenty of crafts museums selling the Limoges pottery that it is famous for and a few festivals if you are in Limoges at the right time of year. If on the other hand it is rustic charm you are after then Collognesla-Rouge offers this and more with its red-sandstone houses and pepper-pot towers and 12th century church to top it off. Close by the picturesque villages of Gimel and Turrenne also present a quiet and mellow area to look at for buying countryside property.
