Guérande

Guérande is a town in the Loire-Atlantique department in the region of Pays de la Loire in western France. The old walled town is surrounded by nearly intact ramparts and has four fortified and ten towers. Guérande is almost surrounded by the sea. Guérande is known by the salterns which produce a very fine, traditional salt called fleur de sel, and by the old town with fortifications. The town has a very rich history, full of important events.
