Tignes
Tignes, in the Savoie department, forms part of the large ski zone called Espace Killy (which includes Val d’Isere) which contains 300km of slopes and has something for everyone and is known as one of the best ski resorts in Europe. There are 150 shops, 115 bars, 7 ski schools and extensive off-piste. Tignes is one of just two resorts in France that can boast to be “snow sure” due to its high altitude but also quick access to the glacier which in fact allows for year-round skiing at an altitude of 3650m. Other activities include ice diving, dog sledding, hang gliding, skidoo riding, ice climbing, parascending, ski-joring (being pulled along by horses), skating, snowshoeing, indoor tennis and heliskiing. Tignes is split into 3 main areas- Val Claret, Le Lac and Lavachet. Each one has its own ambiance and collection of restaurants, bars and nightlife making them great for family or young group holidays alike.In the summer the resort is also buzzing with activity as there is still so much to do here. Activities include golf, tennis, football, basketball, volleyball and beach volleyball and Canyoning for the more adventurous. There is also " Acroland" with it's acro-bungee, trampolines, water slide and of course the spectacle that is 'the water jump' where people on snowboards, ski's and roller blades, are hurling themselves off one of the four jumps and flying straight into the lake!
