The 10th arrondissement is one of the 20 arrondissements that make up the city of Paris and is located on the right bank of the River Seine. It contains two of Paris’s six main train stations, the Gare du Nord and the Gard de l’Est which are among the busiest in Europe. It is centred around the Canal St Martin where many cafes and restaurants line its banks. Roller blading and cycling are very popular in this area in part thanks to the streets lining the canal becoming car free on Saturday afternoons which also attracts people just looking for a stroll along the canal. It benefits from the bustling nightlife scene in the neighbouring 11th arrondissement and also the Place de la Republique in the south of the 10th arrondissement with its bars, cafes and restaurants.
