The 11th arrondissement is one of the 20 arrondissements that make up the city of Paris and is located on the right bank of the River Seine. It is one of the most densely populated districts of Paris where its inhabitants outnumber its no. of jobs by 2 to 1 making it a popular residential area. The 11th includes the Place de la Republique in the west and the Place de la Bastille in the east which are joined by the Boulevard Richard Lenoir with its large markets and parks. The most fashionable areas for bars, cafes, restaurants and nightclubs are the Rue de Faubourg St Antione and the Place de la Bastille which also have many boutiques and galleries. In the North the Oberkampf area is a busy area for nightlife while the east is more residential. North-west of the Place de la Bastille is popular with young Parisians and is more international with plenty of little bars and a somewhat Latin-American theme while the area around the Rue Oberkampf is more traditionally Parisian. In short the 11th is known for is variety and lively feel which in recent years has become one of the trendiest arrondissements in Paris.
