Located in the Seine Maritime department of northern France, Rouen is a very French dominated city with very few foreign buyers: most that buy here either work in Rouen or Paris. The old city is very attractive with hundreds of timber-framed medieval houses lining the narrow pedestrian streets decorated with statues. A Gothic cathedral, art museums, plenty of cafes and shops in the city provide a welcome distraction from the industrial surroundings of Rouen. The climate is similar to that of Britain due to its northern location and it is not the ideal place for a holiday home but attractive all the same.

Property for sale in the city of Rouen is fairly expensive and you must venture into the countryside to get a good deal but on the plus side long term rentals are very common so it can still be seen as an investment opportunity. In the countryside, typical Norman properties are available from character manor houses to farmhouses and cottages.
