Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie

Located in the Vendee, between St Jean de Monts and Les Sables d’Olonne, St Gilles Croix De Vie is a seaside resort to rival those on the Cote d’Azur with weather almost as good as that on the French Riviera. It is a great place for summer holidays but the strong Atlantic currents bring large waves with them so for calmer waters you should consider Royan and the Gironde Estuary. The main beach is on the north side of the Vie estuary while on the south side you will find a great collection of fisherman’s cottages between the port and shopping area.

As well as water sports and other outdoor activities including golf, St Gilles Croix de Vie is also a cultural centre with many exhibitions and festivals, theatre and cinema. You can also discover the old town, visit the local markets or just relax in the many cafes and restaurants.
