Located in the Puy de Dome department, the city of Clermont Ferrand is the amalgamation of two ancient cities- Clermont and Montferrand. Culturally rich and set amongst naturally dramatic surroundings of volcanoes and glaciers Clermont Ferrand is surprisingly still French dominated for the most part except for the university here which attracts some international students. It is located close to the Mont-Dore massif offering skiing during the winter and fabulous hiking throughout the summer.
