Biarritz
Located in the Pyrenees Atlantiques department, Bayonne and Biarritz are nestled in a region heavily influenced by Basque settlers, most evidently in Bayonne with its tall half-timbered colombage houses with green and red painted woodwork. This Basque culture is proudly displayed through the continued use of the Basque language, the lively atmosphere and the sport “pelota”. Bayonne has its own airport and benefits from cheap flights from within Europe providing easy access to this area of France. Biarritz is less commercial but has plenty of shops, restaurants and a casino to keep you entertained and is becoming very fashionable once again with Parisians and celebrities.
